1,200 new first year students began their IT Sligo third level journey on Monday when they gathered on the Institute’s campus to begin Induction 2016.
The new intake includes approximately 200 international students.
Induction 2016 at IT Sligo is a two-day programme of events, which introduces the Institute’s new full-time undergraduate students to the campus facilities and services.
A series of welcome talks, seminars and question & answer sessions are organised to help the new students settle into life at IT Sligo.
They were welcomed to the college on Monday morning by the Institute’s Interim President Colin McLean. They also got advice and tips from former IT Sligo student Clive Foley, a graduate in Computing, who now runs his own online company Plynk.me. Plynk is a banking app, which enables friends to send money to each other seamlessly.
All this week, the students will attend course talks as they get to meet their new classmates and lecturers. They will learn more about the subjects they will be studying.
