Figures add up as John lands key Accountancy Chair

The School of Business and Social Sciences at IT Sligo is pleased to announce the election of John Gaynor as Chairperson of the ACCA Connaught Members’ Network Panel.

John is a lecturer in Accountancy at the Institute.

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is a global accounting body with 170,000 members and 436,000 students in 180 countries.

The Connaught Members’ Network provides professional support for members in their local areas.

As Chairperson, John will have the privilege of representing the Connaught Panel on the ACCA Ireland Committee for two years. The ACCA Ireland Committee reviews a wide range of issues relating to ACCA and the profession, including governance and regulation.

IT Sligo holds strong links with the professional accountancy bodies for over 40 years and our graduates hold senior management positions globally. The introduction of a three year BA (Honours) degree in Accounting in 2010 has been a great success, attracting maximum exemptions from the accounting bodies.
