Grab & Go Global Food Event Delivers Dishes From Around the World Friendly to Planet Earth!

 BBS in Tourism with Event Management students at IT Sligo in collaboration with Sligo Global Kitchen invite diners to an experience like no other at IT Sligo.

Food is an important part of culture and way of bringing people together, that’s why students in IT Sligo decided to host this free food event and give people the opportunity to sample something different.  Hosted by third year BBS Tourism with Event Management students, this event which is welcome to all on Tuesday the 25th of February. Grab & Go is offering an opportunity for the staff and students of IT Sligo to experience a taste of different cultures and flavours from African countries Zimbabwe and Cameroon.

Grab & Go is an environmentally conscious event which is plastic free and promoting sustainability. There will be biodegradable plates made from cabbage leaves and attendees will be invited to eat with their hands, in efforts to reducing the amount of waste generated on campus.

Sligo Global Kitchen will be cooking a variety of dishes on the day from a diverse menu, creating a unique and unforgettable dining experience. A talk will be given on the day about Sligo Global Kitchen and what they do in the community to bring people together and share culture through food. Sligo Global Kitchen began in 2014 and was started by people in direct provision. In three years, SGK has used the medium of food to connect residents of the Sligo Asylum house with the local community. Members of the community have come together shared their stories and recipes and above all a meal together.

The event will be held on the IT Sligo concourse outside of the library downstairs from 1-4pm on the 25th of February 2020 for the chance to enjoy traditional dishes from Africa. For any further information about Grab & Go, please contact by email: itsligostudents2020@nullgmail.com.
