The deadline for CAO Change of mind applications is today (Tuesday, July 1st).

Students still have until 5.15pm this evening to change their minds. They can change their course choices as many times as they wish and will not be charged.

IT Sligo is offering a range of advice and information on the Institute’s website www.itsligo.ie to help those students who are still undecided.

“We recommend to students that, when it comes to course preferences, they choose what’s in their heart rather than what have the points for,” said Gerry Hegarty, Student Affairs Manager at IT Sligo.

“We offer programmes to suit everyone. Some will be exactly what you’re looking for. Others, you mightn’t even have heard of, but they could open up a door to an exciting future career.”

IT Sligo is introducing a range of new courses across Science, Engineering & Design, and Business & Social Sciences. The additions include a BA Hons in Architectural Design (SG345) and a Batchelor of Business in Digital Media Marketing (SG539)

These courses come on stream at the start an exciting period for IT Sligo. The Institute is well into the “home straight” of a five-year €35 million campus extension and development plan. One of the key pillars is a new Science Building, which is ready for occupation. It will offer students state-of-the-art learning facilities from September. Eight new teaching laboratories, four research labs and new administrative offices are ready for business. The new development also includes a 600-seater restaurant.

According to the Higher Education Authority, the number of overall CAO applications has increased by 2.7% in 2014. This is the first significant increase in applicants since 2010.

Engineering, Science and Computing continue to increase their share of first preferences. Construction is showing a slight increase at level 8.

As one of Ireland’s leading degree-awarding Institutions, IT Sligo values its record in providing students with practical, hands-on courses with real-life work placements.
