SUSI, the national student grant awarding authority, is today issuing a final call to those who wish to apply for a student grant for the current 2019/20 academic year. Online applications will close on Friday, 1st November 2019.

Eleanor Murphy, Communications and Customer Services Manager at SUSI advises: “Online applications for student grants in academic year 19/20 close at midnight on 1st November 2019. Be sure to complete your application online at susi.ie and submit it to SUSI for assessment before this date. If you have started an application but have not yet completed it, please do so before the closing date. You will have received an email from SUSI in recent weeks prompting you to complete your application.

So far this academic year, SUSI has received almost 95,000 out of an expected 96,500 applications and has finalised over 89,000. Of those 73,000 have been awarded and 16,000 have been cancelled or refused.

I urge students awaiting finalisation of their applications to submit any documents that have been requested by SUSI as soon as possible so that SUSI can complete the processing of their applications.

A fully online system and experienced staff have meant that students awarded a monthly maintenance grant have benefited from earlier than ever grant award decisions and first payment dates. Over 64,000 students received their first payment and SUSI is continuing to pay weekly to ensure that as many students as possible receive those much needed first grant payments.”

Notes:

SUSI is completing its eighth year of operations. Last year the national awarding authority processed more than 99,000 applications with approximately 80,000 students receiving funding for the 2018-19 academic year.
