ATU Sligo Students' Union

The ATU Sligo Students’ Union (ATUSSU) is a democratic organisation run by students for students. Once you join ATU Sligo you automatically become a member of the Students’ Union.

Whilst they organise lots of fun events throughout the year, they are also a valuable support to students who may be having issues. They represent you, support you and make sure you have an unforgettable university experience.

The Students’ Union office is located in the student services centre. You can drop in to the office if you need someone to talk to, need some advice or want to raise any concerns you have – their door is always open. Not only that, there is also a cool hang out space with pool tables, sofas and a place to charge your phone. In this building you will also find the Students’ Union shop which has food and supplies at reduced prices. This building is also home to SLIGO’S ONLY STARBUCKS!

The Students’ Union is a representative voice and source of support for all students. The SU President attends important university meetings to ensure that students are the focus of every decision made. The Wellbeing and Engagement Officer focuses on campaigns to improve every students physical and mental wellbeing alongside assisting with any accommodation issues. The Academic Life Officer can help with any concerns you may have with your degree, timetable or modules.

You could become your class representative. Class reps are the spokesperson for each individual class and are elected by their fellow classmates. They are the first point of contact for the Students’ Union and ATU Sligo departments. Class reps acquire lots of new skills such as negotiation, organisation, leadership and advocacy.

These are just some of the events and campaigns the Students Union run throughout the year:  Freshers Week – Freshers BBQ – Day at the Races – Silent Disco – SHIFT Week (Sexual Health in First Term) – SHAG Week (Sexual Health and Guidance) – Mental Health Weeks – Rainbow Week – Exam De-Stress Weeks – Student Gala Balls
