The event will address not only the challenges but also the opportunities for educators as we will have to weave the golden thread of sustainability into all aspects of the teaching curriculum.
EwS 2022 conference will draw together national and international educators in focused paper sessions with thought provoking key note speakers and opportunities for academic staff and researchers to participate in training workshops.

We will welcome submissions from new and experienced contributors and particularly encourage young educators at the early stages of their career to present to an audience and gain valuable insights in a positive and supportive environment.

Registration for EwS 2022 is hosted by our conference partners the Environmental Sciences Association of Ireland (ESAI). When you register you will be re-directed to the ESAI Environ registration website.
EASI members will receive 20% OFF the registration fee. This will be applied at the time of registration.

EwS 2022 will take place over three days from the 15th to the 18th of August 2022 with international keynote speakers, thought provoking presentation session, field trips and workshops, all at the ATU Sligo campus of the new Atlantic Technical University.

Professor Magdalena Svantöm
Professor of Sustainability Studies, Chalmers University of Technology,
Gothenburg, Sweden
Prof Svantöm research focuses on the development and application of methodology for environmental and sustainability assessment for products and processes, mostly life cycle assessment, and often with the purpose of providing guidance in early stages of development.
Mr. Koen Vervoort

Mr. Vervoort works with international and large panels of users & community based stakeholders to improve the way of interacting, supporting & cooperating within complex ecosystems to develop open collaborative innovation in real life community settings.
The European Network of Living Labs is the international, non-profit, independent association of benchmarked Living Labs.
Future Foods Field trip is taking place on Monday 15th August.
Join us for a 2.00pm departure where we will visit a number of locations around County Sligo and north Leitrim to experience the northwest of Ireland and its current and future foods.
This trip will take in a number of stops with guest speakers and opportunities to experience the environment of northwest Ireland. Participants are advised to bring sun screen and wet weather clothing (it is the northwest of Ireland!).
EwS 2022 will host a number of workshops on Tuesday, the 16th of August. Conference participants can book one of the following workshops hosted by national and international experts. Workshops will include;

Sligo town is the busy heart of northwest Ireland. It offers many accommodation and entertainment options. When planning your visit to Sligo we recommend you visit Sligo Tourism website.
The Glasshouse Hotel in the centre of Sligo town is our conference accommodation partner. They will offer a rate of €130 per night (including bed and breakfast) when booking as a registered conference delegate.

Sligo town has a variety of food and entertainment options. In addition Strandhill and Rosses Point, two local coastal villages are less than 10km from the conference venue.
While in the northwest, why not take the time to get outside and get active. Here are some suggestions;
Hill walking around Ben Bulben and County Sligo
Surfing and surf lessons at Strandhill
Kayaking on Lough Gill
Sailing in Rosses Point
Sea fishing in Mullaghmore or Rosses Point
Seaweed baths at Strandhill and Enniscrone
