Congratulations on getting a place in Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Sligo.
Here is registration information to get you started in ATU Sligo.
Important: You will be notified by the Admissions Office when you are eligible to register. This communication (email or letter) will include your ATU Student Number. Please see our FAQ section for further information about registration and answers to frequently asked questions.
Setup and Log in to Your ATU Account
- Setup the Authenticator App/Multi-Factor-Authentication (MFA). This is an essential security measure to keep ATU systems and your data safe. Not sure how to set up an MFA? A step-by-step guide is available in this video.
- Password: Your password is initially set to DDMMYYYYATUS where DDMMYYYY is the day, month and year of your date and birth. You can change your password any time here; your new password must be a minimum of 12 characters long.
Registering for Your Course
Once your new ATU account has been set up, and you can register for your course at Self-Service Banner.

Note: as part of registering for your course, you will be required to upload a photo of yourself for your student ID Card. This image must be less than 150KB. Please ensure you have this ready before beginning course registration.
Accessing Your Course Material
Moodle is the eLearning platform we use to allow you access to course material.
It may take up to 24 hours after you have completed your registration in the step above before you can access your course material on Moodle.
You should login to Moodle with your ATU details ie studentID@nullatu.ie
Moodle is available via the links on the Student Portal page of the college website or via https://vlesligo.atu.ie.

Moodle will be available to new students 24 hours after you complete your registration. Moodle is the student learning platform we use at ATU Sligo.
Within this platform, students will access many learning resources. Every student has an account personalised to their course of study, and active use of your account will prepare you for success at ATU Sligo.
You can access your email, Moodle, and Student Self Service Banner, a database of your student records and information maintained by ATU Sligo on the Student Portal page.
The timetable schedule can be accessed here. The page can take a few moments to load your timetable. Attending the induction is important so that you learn more about your timetable and how to read it. Please note that this timetable is subject to change, so check it regularly, especially at the start of term.
Induction is the first step in settling into college life. Registered students are encouraged to attend Induction where they will be shown how to access facilities, learn about the supports available, meet their lecturers, meet their classmates and lots more. Keep an eye on our web page dedicated to Induction 2022, and stay tuned to our social media channels, where we’ll be sure to post the latest information on Induction.

Frequently Asked Questions
You can register once you receive a registration communication from the Admission Office.
Students studying on Online / Part Time courses will only receive a registration email after they have accepted their offer and paid their booking deposit (where applicable). It can take up to 7 days for registration emails to be issued after you have accepted your offer / paid your deposit.
Please note: ATU Sligo will be closed between 23rd December – 3rd January. No registration emails will be sent during this time.
Your registration email will be sent to the email address that you provided in your application to ATU Sligo.
The email will be sent from the Admissions Office at admissions.sligo@nullatu.ie
Please check your junk/spam folders.
You will only receive your registration email once you are eligible to register.
To be eligible to register, you must have accepted your offer to study at ATU Sligo and paid your booking deposit (where applicable).
It can take up to 7 days for registration emails to be issued after you have accepted your offer / paid deposit. Please check your junk/spam folders.
If it has been longer than 7 days, please contact the Admissions Office for assistance. Please quote your application number.

During registration you will be asked if you want to pay your tuition fees.
This will happen for all students even if your tuition fees will be paid by an external sponsor (e.g. your employer, a Skillnet, Springboard+)
If you decide not to pay during registration, you will be temporarily registered until your tuition fees are paid.
Tuition fees must be paid by the relevant payment deadlines or late fee payment penalties will apply.

Your course material will only become available 24 hours after registration.
All students must upload a photo as part of the registration process for their student ID card. If you are unable to upload a photo, please check the following:
- The image file must be less than 150KB. Images over 150KB cannot be accepted. You should resize your image, or use another image, and upload again.
- You must check the ‘confirm’ box before you select the paperclip icon.

If you are getting the error message ‘Please add phone number’ , please check the following:
- You have added at least one phone number when registering.
- You do not have additional empty lines for phone numbers. Please delete any incomplete or empty lines before proceeding.
If you are experiencing problems with setting up your Authenticator App/Multi-Factor-Authentication (MFA) you should contact IT Services. You can log a ticket with IT Services online
If you are having problems registering for your course at Self-Service Banner please email the Admissions Office.
You must include your application /student number in all correspondence.
