Returning Students Registration

Welcome back to Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Sligo!

This information is for existing ATU Sligo students who are continuing their studies in the 2023/24 Academic Year. 

  • All returning students must register at the start of each academic year. 
  • Teaching starts on 18th September 2023 for Semester 1 and 22nd January 2024 for Semester 2. 
  • You will receive an email to your ATU student email account when you are eligible to register.  
  • If you have outstanding fees from a previous academic year, you will not receive a registration email and you will not be able to register until your outstanding fees have been paid.

Important: if you were not registered in 2022/23 and do not have an ATU account you will need to set-up your ATU account first. Please see here for further information. 

Register for Your Course

You can register online via Self-Service Banner 

Login Details: Your ATU student number, email address and login details will be the same as 2022/23.  If you have forgotten your password,  please follow the instructions in this link. If you continue to have problems with your login details, please contact IT Services for assistance. If you cannot access the IT Services student helpdesk, you can also contact them here or visit them on campus in Room E1011. 

Before beginning registration, please take the following action: 

  1. Review the ATU Registration Video Guide and  ATU Student Guide to Online Registration
  2. You need to confirm personal information when registering including (if applicable)  PPS Number,  SUSI Reference Number and details of previous third level study.  Please have this information available. 
  3. You will need need a debit or credit card to pay fees. During the registration process,  all students will be asked if they want to pay their fees. You can make a full or partial payment or you can choose not to make a payment. Please be aware that failure to pay fees by the relevant deadlines will result in the loss of access to Moodle/Exam Results. For further information about fees, payment plans and deadlines , please refer to the Fees and Grants webpages.

It may take up to 24 hours after you have completed your registration before you can access your course material on Moodle.

Set Up ATU Account

If you were not registered in 2022/23, and you do not have an ATU account, you will need set up an ATU account before you can register.  This will apply to all students who only have IT Sligo account details e.g. @itsligo.ie email addresses. 

Your student number will remain the same. Your ATU email address will be in the format studentnumber@nullatu.ie 

Guidance on how to set-up your ATU Account is available below. 

  1. Setup the Authenticator App/Multi-Factor-Authentication (MFA) here. This is an essential security measure to keep ATU systems and your data safe. 
  2. Password: Please contact IT Services for guidance about your password. 

If you have difficulties setting up your ATU account, please contact IT Services for assistance. If you cannot access the IT Services student helpdesk, you can also contact IT Services here or visit them on campus in Room E1011

After you have setup your ATU account, you will be able to register for your course on Self-Service Banner hereFurther instructions about the registration process is available here

FAQ

Your registration email will be sent to your ATU student email account. 

You will only receive this email when you are eligible to register, and when registration has opened for 2023/24 

You may not be eligible to register for several reasons including 1) you have outstanding fees 2) you have not met all the requirements to progress to the next stage of your course e.g. you may need to wait until August exam results are released until you are eligible to progress and register for the new academic year. 

Students with outstanding fees will have a registration hold on their account. 

You will need to pay your outstanding fees before you can register for 2023/24.

Please include your student number in all correspondence. 

Have you received your registration email informing you that you are eligible to register?

If you have not received this email,  you will not be able to register. 

If you have received this email, do you see a notification on the top right corner when you log into self-service banner e.g. – ‘You have active action items available for your review’. 

  • If yes, please click on that notification and complete registration. 
  • If you do not see a notification, please contact admissions.sligo@nullatu.ie with your student number.

If you continue to have difficulties, please contact Admissions for further assistance.  You should include your student number and detailed information about the specific problem you are having. Please include screenshots were possible.

If it has been longer than 24 hours, and you are still having issues with accessing Moodle, please contact IT Services.
