ATU Sligo Conferring Schedule 2022
IT Sligo Graduation 2021

All students who have completed a major award this academic year will be invited to the ceremony to receive their Parchments, these include Level 6 Higher Certificate, Level 7 Degree, Level 8 Honours Degree, Level 8 Higher Diploma, Level 9 Masters Degree (Taught and by Research) and Level 10 Doctorate Degree.

Students who completed a minor or special purpose award this academic year e.g. certificates will receive their Parchments through Digitary CORE and not in a formal ceremony. These will be issued by the end of November.

The conferring will take place on campus in the Knocknarea Arena subject to any on going public Health Restrictions.

If you are experiencing any symptoms of flu, fever or sore throat, please do not attend.

Please note this schedule may be subject to change should any public health/other need arises.

Each Student will be permitted to bring two guests to the ceremony and will receive an electronic invitation for their guests.

Those graduating must present in academic robes and hats for the Conferring. See the link to the gowning company, Armstrong and Oxford.

There will be new academic colours for this year’s graduation that Armstrong and Oxford will be supplying.

A reduced rate is available for pre-booked gowns.  Online booking will close on Friday 4th November.

Gowns can be collected on campus in the Hume Hall from 8am each day, or the evening before for the first sessions only.

If you are in the 10am Thursday session, you can collect on Wednesday 3-6pm.

If you are in the 10am Friday session, you can collect on Thursday 4-7pm.

In the event that you cannot collect your gown personally it is acceptable for a family member or friend to collect it in your name, provided they have proof of pre-booking.

Gowns must be returned to the same area 90 minutes after the ceremony.

The official photographer, Keaneys Photographic, Carrick on Shannon will be available to take professional photographs of you and your family in the Hume Hall from 7.30am on both days.

You can pre-order your photographs and book your time slot at gradphotos.ie. A framing service is also available.

Students that do not wish to attend will be invited to update their address details and receive their parchment by post (€20) and a link will be available through your student email.

Arrive at the venue 1 hour in advance (i.e., 9am Thursday for Session 1) and be checked in, gowned, and seated 20 minutes before the start of your session.

You will be assigned a seat number and will be seated alphabetically with your programme.

It is very important to remain in the correct seat number to receive the correct parchment.

A Shuttle bus will be available on a continuous loop from the Fish to the Knocknarea arena during the ceremony days.

Tea & Coffee will be provided on campus from 9am on both days.

Limited parking will be available due to ceremonies taking place during a normal teaching week

Please follow the signs to the designated parking areas, stewards will be on hand to direct you.

Any graduating students intending to come on campus the day of their conferring please be mindful that unlike previous conferring times:

  • It is a normal teaching week and to please be respectful while moving about
  • Please keep your visit time to a minimum to accommodate the next session of graduates coming for each of the ceremonies.

A Quiet Space will be available in The Knocknarea arena during the conferring ceremonies.  This can be used by those experiencing sensory overstimulation / overwhelm, when needed.

It will be accessible before, during and after the ceremonies while the building is still open.

Signage will be placed around the venue to guide you to the Quiet Space.  If you need any help navigating to the space the ATU will be able to assist you.

Will be accommodated as per registration form.
