Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Welcome to IT Sligo’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion webpage.

IT Sligo is committed to creating an environment where diversity is celebrated and everyone is treated with dignity and respect regardless of gender, age, race, disability, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, civil status, family status, or membership of the travelling community.

The Institute’s Strategic Plan sets out these ambitions;

 • A culture that champions respect, equality, inclusion and diversity

 • Aims to achieve a management team which has a minimum of 40% male and 40% female members

 • Aims to promotes equality, diversity and inclusion and provide for staff wellbeing and work-life balance

In June 2021 the Institute’s Governing Body approved a new and comprehensive Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy, reaffirming the Institute’s commitment to the principles and promotion of equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of Institutional activity.

This website provides details of the range of actions and initiatives that the Institute is taking to promote equality and human rights, accessible via the menu on the righthand side of the page.

Gender equality is a current priority given the under-representation of women at senior levels in IT Sligo, as is the case across the higher education sector. IT Sligo has signed up to the Athena SWAN Charter and was awarded an Institutional Bronze Award in the October 2020 application round.

If, as a member of staff or student, you have any ideas or would like to become involved in promoting equality and human rights please feel free to contact me.
