The programme is delivered part-time online and consists of six taught modules and a Work Based Learning module delivered over one academic year (September to May). The taught modules examine key aspects relating to Facilities Management. Work Based Learning (WBL) is a key component of the programme and accounts for 25 credits. The purpose of the WBL module is to enable students to demonstrate the ability to apply their learning on an on-going basis throughout the year in the context of the academic content delivered on the programme.

Programme Attendance Requirements

Classes - students remotely attend live online classes, including software tutorials. Should a student miss a live class they can view the recording whenever it suits them. Software is available for the duration of the course via remote access to our on-campus PCs or students may choose to download free student licences directly to their home PC/laptop. On average students will study three taught modules per semester - in addition to this there will a year long work based learning module. Typically there will be three live lectures per week - each live lecture lasts for  approximately 1 hour. In addition to attending the lectures students will be required to undertake self study (3-5hrs per week per module). Live lectures will be delivered on Monday - Thursday evenings after 6pm.

Workshops - a face to face workshop day will held each semester in either Sligo or Dublin. Attendance at the workshop day is encouraged but is not mandatory. Workshops are normally held on a Friday.

Exams - students who reside outside the island of Ireland at the time of their exams have the choice to sit an exam remotely using ATU Sligo’s online invigilator service (proctoring) - therefore, there is no requirement to travel to Ireland for examinations. Students that reside in Ireland at the time of examinations will be required to sit their exams in an exam centre.
