What does the workplace of the future look like?

This is a burning question for businesses at the moment as they prepare for a new hybrid working world. Businesses know that they will need new and different leadership styles and management structures to bring together remote working teams and avail of new opportunities to scale their businesses internationally. To help businesses on this evolutionary path, on Tuesday 15 June from 11 am to 1.30 pm, the four CUA campus Innovation Centres across the three Connacht-Ulster Alliance (CUA) institutes of GMIT, LYIT and IT Sligo are hosting a webinar titled, “Scaling Your Business in a Hybrid Working World – Working Locally, Trading Globally.”

The CUA is a strategic partnership between GMIT, LYIT and IT Sligo aimed at establishing a new Technological University (TU) in the West and North-West of Ireland. The three presidents of the CUA, GMIT’s Dr Orla Flynn, LYIT’s Paul Hannigan and IT Sligo’s Dr Brendan McCormack, state:

“This webinar offers businesses in the region an opportunity to gain fresh insights into post-pandemic working. Flexible and remote working can offer many opportunities but also many challenges. The webinar is another tangible demonstration of the how the Technological University can deploy existing strengths in a coherent manner for the benefit of the entire region.”

Dr Seán Duffy, CUA Executive Project Lead, says:

“As the CUA Institutes continue their work to become a Technological University, this webinar is another excellent example of working together with the three Institutes acting as one for the benefit of the wider region. Developing knowledge and skills which will enable a locally employed work force with a global focus is a welcome challenge which the CUA is keen to support”.

The webinar will be addressed by a panel of guest speakers reflecting on what it takes to build and execute a global team nestled in the heart of the West and North-West of Ireland. They are:

Caroline Reidy, the founder of The HR Suite, offers specialist tailored and effective human resources, employment law and business solutions to over 500 clients throughout Ireland. Caroline is also the author of “The Art of Asking the Right Questions” which provides top tips to managers throughout the employment journey. Caroline will answer questions on how to attract talent in the West and North-West for a scaling business, how to grow a team and understand employers’ obligations around remote work and how to maximise remote working potential, looking at key trends in the working environment.

Mayo-based Paul McBride, Peropyx, and Galway-based Louise Foody from Kingspan will discuss how they are dealing with a range of challenges from attracting and retaining talent to scaling, trading globally and looking at challenges differently. Other panellists include David Gildea, Druva, Donegal and Elaine Murphy, Live tiles, from Sligo.

The Master of Ceremonies is Susan HayesCulleton, author of “The Positive Economist”.
Janette Gillen, Manager of IT Sligo’s Innovation Centre, says:

“We wanted to focus on a topic of importance for start ups, SMEs and MNCs. We also want to highlight how you can work in the West and North-West of Ireland, build a global team and compete globally. There are so many new challenges around the areas of hybrid working that companies need to be aware of and so many good tips and ideas on how to manage teams globally.”
