Institute of Technology Sligo has announced the appointed of Aidan Haughey as their new Communications Manager this week. Aidan has over 15 years’ experience in communications in both the public and private sector, most recently as acting Head of Communications & Marketing with the national youth organisation, Foroige.
A native of Donegal, he started his career as a journalist and radio producer in the mid 1990’s before turning to Public Relations and Communications. In the past he has worked as Communications Manager for the Flight of the Earls Commemoration and for the Mayor of London’s Office on a major regeneration project in South East London.
As Communications Manager, Aidan will implement the communications strategy for IT Sligo and hopes to enhance all aspects of internal and external communications within the institute; “I’m very excited to start this challenging role and look forward to working with all departments, to help spread the news of the great achievements of students and staff at IT Sligo.”
President of IT Sligo Brendan McCormack welcomed the new appointment, commenting that ‘we are delighted that Aidan is joining the staff of IT Sligo. The Institute is performing on many fronts at a national and international level and it is important that we bring that message to our staff and students, stakeholders and the public. Aidan brings a wealth of experience from across a number of sectors and we look forward to his innovative approach to promoting the successes and achievements of the Institute’.
