Biography

Akinlolu Akande received his PhD degree in Physics from the University of Dublin, Trinity College, Ireland. After completing his PhD, he stayed on in Trinity as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow where he combined his research in Computational Condensed Matter Physics with teaching duties in the first and second year undergraduate Physics laboratories for over 3 years. Between 2014 and 2015, he taught Mathematics to first year computing students as an Assistant lecturer in the Department of Computing, Dundalk Institute of Technology, Ireland. He is currently a lecturer in Mathematics and Information Technology at the School of Science, Institute of Technology, Sligo (IT Sligo).

Akinlolu has 
strong analytical skills in interdisciplinary research, covering a wide range of fields including computational science, systems modelling, mathematical and material physics. He has authored a number of peer-reviewed publications and won a number of world-class fellowships and scholarships, including the Centre for Research on Adaptive Nanostructures and Nanodevices (CRANN) Ireland postdoctoral fellowship, the Science Foundation of Ireland (SFI) and International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) Diploma scholarships. He is one of the principal investigators of the Mathematical Modelling Research Group (MMRG) at IT Sligo. His research interests include Modelling Hybrid Perovskites for Solar Cell Applications, Organic Materials, Strongly correlated systems.
