Biography

Douglas Marques is a Brazilian academic with 10+ years of experience in academic research and development. Graduated in Plastics Engineering (2008), with a research based Masters (2011) and Doctorate (2015) in Materials Engineering, Science and Technology, awarded by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Douglas has focused his research background in bioresorbable polymers manufacturing techniques, targeting scaffold production for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. With two academic passages in Julie Gough's research team at The University of Manchester - UK, and a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Tom Flanagan's team at the School of Medicine of University College Dublin - RoI, Douglas was appointed a lecturing position at Institute of Technology, Sligo in October 2020. Personal objectives include developing a strong partnership with polymer industry in Ireland and spread the power of academic research in the north-west of the country.
