Geraldine Duignan lectures on both the Pharmaceutical and Health Science programs at the Institute of Technology, Sligo.  She is a graduate of NUI, Galway with a Master¿s degree in Pharmaceutical Analysis from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Following an internship with the European Pharmacopoeia, Geraldine spent 8 years working in the pharmaceutical industry, beginning as a development scientist for GlaxoSmithKline in the UK and later as a project manager in the development of a novel cancer drug for Pharmacyclics, Sunnyvale California before returning to Ireland in 2001. She also holds a H. Dip in Quality Assurance from NUI Galway and a M.Sc. in Science Communication from Dublin City University where her dissertation focussed on Science and Visual Culture.  Her current research aims to support her teaching and learning in the area of pharmaceutical work-practice and  science communication.  She is particularly interested in the development of "Authentic" learning experiences for students and in the concept of collaborative transformation.
