Biography

As Head of Department within the School of Engineering & Design, I manage the delivery academic programmes across computing, creative design, fine art, performing arts and writing & literature. The dept welcomes almost 600 students and comprises over 40 staff.

I sit on the board of the Western Development Commission, a statutory body tasked to promote both social and economic development in the Western Region.

I co-founded Appsolo in 2010 to take years of teaching and test it in the 'real world'. Appsolo develop cutting edge line-of-business bespoke applications in Microsoft development platforms and supporting open-source solutions.

At IT Sligo, I held programme chair for Software in the Computing & Creative Practices department assisting with the development of current and emerging programmes of study. My teaching and research centres on software development (WPF, WCF, Silverlight, ASP.NET MVC), web development (JS, JQuery, CSS3, HTML5) and Human Computer Interaction with regular distractions into research/industry.

I take seriously the business of equipping our students with knowledge of the latest big movements in software development and design. At IT Sligo, we've enjoyed great success with our students and hopefully prepared the foundation for even greater achievements as these developers of tomorrow find their feet in the industry.
