Lecturer of Communications, Department of Life Sciences, School of Science.

Current Responsibilities
Develop and lecture on communications modules or 'communications - related' modules on the 1st year programmes of Biomedical Science, Medical Biotechnology, Health Science and Physiology and Occupational Safety and Health.

2nd year modules: Develop and lecture on Facilitations and Group Working Skills for Health Science & Physiology; and Communications for Scientists for Forensic Science, Investigation & Analysis.

4th year modules: Develop and lecture on Work Practice & Professional Report for Forensic Science, Investigation & Analysis.

Past modules: Management;
Supported Modules:  Determinants of Health; and Research Methods.

Work History
Over 4 year period, worked within small teams of communications professionals at two high-end Communications Consultancies in London, UK (Ridgemount PR and Biss Lancaster Plc, which is part of the EURO RSCG worldwide network).

I returned to Ireland and completed my honours degree in managed and when I felt competent in my skills - set, I created and managed a marketing and communications consultancy.  The business grew to employ 5 people over a 4 year period. I continued as a consultant for a further 4 years while working as a part-time lecturer for IT Sligo.

Lecturing at IT Sligo since 2000 and incorporated new teaching methods such as facilitations and enquiry based learning into the modules I am responsible for.

Volunteering
- IT Sligo's successful Science Week and recently managed their week -ong lectures.
- Sci Fest- Set up and manage the students' badminton club.- Sligo Tennis Club- Sligo Tidy Towns
