The annual Sligo Engineering and Technology Expo will be returning to Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Sligo on Thursday, 28th April, from 10 am to 6 pm.

In its 8th year, the Expo is sponsored by global healthcare company Abbott and offers potential engineering and computing students the opportunity to interact with leading engineering and technology companies in Ireland.

After two years of both virtual and blended events, the 2022 Expo will return as a live in-person experience at the Knocknarea Arena. The event is free to attend and will connect students, industry leaders and the local community. The 2022 Expo will also showcase the projects of over 100 final year students, and some of these include an electric go-cart, an eco-water pumping station and an electronic guide dog.

Joining the students will be leading companies in the industry, such as Breedon Group, Mercury Engineering, Hollister, EMCA and MCi Mirror Controls. These companies and many others will be highlighting the career opportunities available in engineering and technology and discussing the cutting-edge technologies that are emerging in the industry.

The 2022 Expo will also feature an exciting programme of talks by industry leaders organised by the AIM Centre. There will be opportunities to have a one-on-one session with industry experts to discuss your business challenges and potential solutions.

Welcoming the return of the Expo, Head of the Faculty of Engineering and Design at ATU Sligo Úna Parsons said:

“We are delighted to return for our eighth year and for the first time under the newly formed Atlantic Technological University. The Expo is a great opportunity for potential engineering students to gain a knowledge of companies in the industry, interact with alumni and network with professional engineers. We look forward to meeting leading industry leaders and having the opportunity to showcase the incredible standard of work our students produce year after year.”

Trevor Harrison, site director at Abbott’s nutrition business in Sligo, said:

“Abbott is delighted to be sponsoring the Sligo Engineering and Technology Expo and to be part of this exciting collaboration between ATU Sligo and industry. This interactive event is a great opportunity for students to further their knowledge and to see what careers in engineering, technology and related fields have to offer. Abbott is keen to support and inspire the innovators of tomorrow, and we look forward to seeing the projects carried out by students at ATU Sligo.”
