Emma Gilroy Hamilton, Marketing Graduate and Senior Director, Head of Global Customer Operations at AdRoll
Emma graduated in 2010 and quickly got a job in the local radio station Ocean FM as a sales coordinator and ad traffic manager. Within a year it was clear Emma had the knowledge and skills to become their digital marketing manager. In 2014 Emma moved to Dublin to work with an American AdTech startup called AdRoll that opened its European headquarters in Dublin.
She has progressed from Account Strategist, to Account Manager, to Business Operations Team Lead on to moving to their New York Offices as Global Head of Customer Operations at the AdRoll Group. She now has a Director Position in the company, overseeing a cross collaborative, global and dynamic team of 30 internal employees and 130 outsourced agents within a newly defined Customer Operations Department.
“After I graduated from this degree, I could clearly demonstrate my understanding and knowledge of real business challenges coming fresh out the door from college". Emma notes she had inspirational lecturers that encouraged and inspired her. She acknowledges that classes are more intimate and that definitely worked in her favour. "Project work was widely endorsed and taught me how to collaborate as a team, delegate and manage time more effectively which was a huge skill to come away with". "I believe the wide range of business modules covered, practical project research, team-work and work experience gained during my time here gave me an advantage in progressing my career”
Anne Granahan, Marketing Graduate and Marketing Manager at Electric Skyline
In 2017, Anne returned to education after 12 years of running a retail business. Despite having lots of skills, she found employers were looking for solid qualifications which she didn’t have. She graduated in 2020 from the Bachelor of Business in Digital Marketing. As part of her degree, she had gone on work placement with a company called Electric Skyline securing the role of temporary marketing assistant which progressed into Marketing Manager.
Anne says “the broad range of subjects covered in my time here and the fact that it was a well-rounded business degree gave me the tools to be comfortable with a broad range of tasks, from technical work to reporting and strategy development. It also meant that I was able to see the business as a whole rather than just focus on one area. Anne believes that “ATU courses are providing graduates with the requirements of the employer, which means that finding that dream job is possible”.
