Homeostasis Preservation in Human Cell Lines with Microalgae

Helen Herbert graduated from the Institution of Technology, Sligo with an honours degree in Human Nutrition in 2019. Helen is currently pursuing her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Eva Campion and Dr. Nicolas Touzet. Her research focuses on the use of microalgae for the biorefining of high-value metabolites and screening them for potential biological activities in human cell lines. Her current research interests stems from a desire to understand fundamental aspects of cellular biology, gene expression, and regulation, combined with the opportunity to explore the possibility of exploiting naturally sourced bioproducts with the potential to restore or improve cellular homeostasis during disease.
