Support is our priority. We have invested heavily in our learning facilities to ensure our students have access to the latest enhancements in technology and are supported throughout their academic journey.

The thoughts of the first assignment can be a daunting prospect for many. Therefore, students of all ages and abilities can benefit from our Academic Writing Centre. Supports include getting started with assignments, effective notetaking, report writing, avoiding plagiarism and successful writing in exams. And of course, the writing process – generating ideas, drafting, revising and editing. Students can access these facilities on a one-to-one basis or as a small group. Online resources such as a grammar checker, academic phrasebank and an essay planner are also available. To find out more please click on this link Academic Writing Centre

Two alternative independent mathematics examinations (one set at honours level and one at ordinary level)  will take place on 13th September 2021 at 11am at IT Sligo for applicants who did not get the required results in the Leaving Certificate to satisfy entry requirements on our programmes.

The purpose of these examinations is to provide applicants with a “second chance” opportunity to achieve the minimum mathematics entry requirements for their chosen IT Sligo programmes. Both examinations will take place on campus in IT Sligo. They will be 2.5 hour exams.

To register your place for either the ordinary level or the honours level exam, please visit our Alternative Maths Exams registration page or contact for more information.

Two of our lecturers host a free YouTube grinds channel full of videos per paper and subject topic to help you with your maths exams. Check out the YouTube channel for more information

In order to best prepare for the exam, IT Sligo offers a free online pre-degree Mathematics Open Course MOOC leading to a special Mathematics exam, equivalent to Leaving Certificate Higher Level. The MOOC provides on-line resources including revision notes and sample papers to support students taking the examination in August.

The MOOC is particularly suitable for CAO Leaving Certificate applicants who may not meet the Mathematics entry requirements for this Honours degree programme (minimum of H5 in LC) following the Leaving Certificate examinations or who are not taking higher level Leaving Certificate Mathematics. A pass in this special exam will be deemed equivalent to meeting the Mathematics entry requirement for our Level 8 engineering programmes.

See the Entry Requirements Tab here for here for more information

This innovative and friendly centre offers the supports many students need. Services include consultations, tutorials, computer-based tutorials and access to relevant text materials. You can even submit maths problems for correction. Students can access these facilities on a one-to-one basis, as a small group or online. Leaving Cert students can also avail of our Free Maths Revision course which takes place over Easter each year. To find out more please click on this link Maths Support Centre

Concentrating on physics and mechanics for first year students, our engineering support centre helps students get the best start possible in their studies. Support is available in small groups or on a one-two-one basis to assist students with their subject modules, working in conjunction with what they are learning in class to reinforce their understanding of the topic.

Technology continues to play a pivotal role in our everyday lives – and education is no different. That is why we have several structures in place to support our students learning experience. We have free Office 365 to download to your own devices plus free unlimited One Drive data storage. This allows students to study or access their data anywhere in the world, at any time. Discounted offers on PCs, Macs, tablets and broadband will help with costs. Alternatively, just ask about our short-term free IT Equipment rental. IT Sligo has free campus-wide high-speed WIFI also.

IT Sligo students can avail of free online language support. This programme of support is suitable for any student for whom English is not their first language. The trainer will tailor sessions, supports and resources to suit individuals’ specific needs based on their level of fluency.
