IT Sligo showcased their Resource Allocation Management System to audiences recently at the launch of Microsoft Office 2010 and Microsoft SharePoint 2010 in the Aviva Stadium.

Michael Barrett, Head of Modularisation Implementation at IT Sligo explains: ‘IT Sligo is moving to centralisation of the student timetable.  A centralised timetable means that from a student perspective the timetables will be more student centred.  It allows for efficient delivery of all academic programmes, exactly as they are designed. It also means that IT Sligo has the strategic information available to evaluate the cost of providing education and to provide evidence that it is delivering value for money to all stakeholders.

As a SharePoint 2010 early adapter, this project demonstrates IT Sligo’s commitment to use the latest technologies to provide an enhanced student experience while meeting the competitive challenges of the wider economic climate.  Delivering the project at IT Sligo resulted in significant cost and time savings in the delivery of the Resource Allocation Management System.’

Microsoft chose IT Sligo and the software supplier to showcase IT Sligo’s resource Allocation Management System which was created in SharePoint 2010 as part of the early adapters programme.   The Resource allocation management system developed on the SharePoint 2010 platform connects with our Human Resources (HR) and Module Repository and allows the Heads of Department to allocate teaching resources against HR contracts and Module requirements.

Michael Barrett, IT Sligo and Tom O’Connor Director Version1 presented the case study to 300 delegates at the Microsoft Office 2010 / SharePoint 2010 launch.
