IT Sligo will take on the Sligo County GAA team in the first ever competitive fixture between the two teams, at IT Sligo this Saturday at 7pm.
The encounter promises to be interesting because many of the IT Sligo panel are also on the Sligo county panel, but for this FBD League fixture, it is agreed by both management teams that those students in the college who are also in the county panel will play with the IT Sligo team.
Some of the Sligo players who are on both panels include Keelan Cawley, Gary Gaughan, Kenneth Sweeney, Stephen Coen, Darren & Gavin Gilsennan and Niall Costello.
Alan Costello, a former student of IT Sligo and ITSSU Welfare Officer, played for the Institute for the past number of years but is now on the opposite side wearing the county jersey.
