IT Sligo to host public debate on Water

‘Paying for our water: quality and quantity matter‘ is the theme of a questions and answers style panel debate, which will be hosted by IT Sligo on Wednesday April 8th at 8pm..

The debate is the kick-off event for Environ 2015, the 25th environmental researchers conference.

The panel of speakers for the water debate will include Jerry Grant (Head of Asset Management at Irish Water), Fiona Regan (Director of DCU Water Institute), Michael Ewing (Environmental Pillar Co-ordinator) and Michael Fitzmaurice (Independent TD for Roscommon-South Leitrim).

The event is open to the public and admission is free.

The environmental researchers conference first began in Sligo RTC in 1991.

This year’s conference, which runs for three days from Wednesday April 8th to Friday April 10th, will bring 250 researchers to Sligo from colleges, industries and agencies all over Ireland.

The theme of this year’s colloquium is “Environ 25: Sustainability and Opportunities for Change”.

It is co-hosted by IT Sligo’s Department of Environmental Science, School of Science, and the Environmental Sciences Association of Ireland (ESAI).

Delegates to the conference will also have an oppportunity to visit IT Sligo’s new €17 million MacMunn Science Building, which was officially opened last September.
