KnockArena#Tired of being a couch potato but not sure how to tackle that less than healthy lifestyle?

Spring is nearly in the air and it’s the perfect time to think about getting fit. And the Knocknarea Arena at IT Sligo is the perfect place for any member of the public, who wants to get into shape to spend some leisure time.

Boasting a modern well-equipped gym with dual access for people with physical disabilities, an international standard athletics arena and a multi- purpose sports hall, providing the latest in fitness and aerobic classes, the Knocknarea Arena has something for everybody.

Regarded as the finest sports and leisure facility in the North West, the attractions include a state of the art 32-station fitness centre, a multi-activity studio, a cafeteria and extensive car parking outside the door.  If you need a little push and are reluctant to contemplate a solitary workout, staff at the arena have organized a series of classes in yoga, badminton, zumba, pilates, body-conditioning aikido and Brazilian ju-jitzu, in the evenings from Monday to Thursday.

Prices are very reasonable – public gym membership costs just €240 for 12 months, or €75 for three months.  And as an added incentive for those who keep postponing a new healthy lifestyle, the Arena is offering a 10% discount for those who book before January 31st.

Members can enjoy free use of the international standard running track and can avail of free personalised fitness programmes or classes.

“People are increasingly conscious of how important it is to be fit both for mental and physical health,” said Gerry Dalton manager at the Knockarea Arena. “We want to spread the message that these facilities are not just for students at IT Sligo – they are for everyone”.
