President’s Bursary Awards 2017/18

IT Sligo is a dynamic provider of higher education, research, innovation and entrepreneurship in the North West of Ireland. The Institute has an established reputation in a number of key research areas.

The President of IT Sligo is awarding a number of research bursaries which will provide successful candidates with an annual stipend of €13,0000 and a waiver of tuition fees for up to four years.

Applications are invited for post-graduate research positions working on the following projects:

Online prediction of final product properties in production of a drug-eluting implant.
Supervisor: Dr Marion McAfee

Continuity of care experiences of caregivers of children with autistic Spectrum Disorder.
Supervisior: Dr Niamh Gallagher

Reinstating the importance of medicinal foods: a viable pathway to discovering novel drug therapies against the progression of Alzheimers Disease.
Supervisors: Dr Thomas Smyth & Dr Margaret Doherty

Can Cross Education of strengthening using dynamic exercise combined with mirror therapy improve function after stroke.
Supervisor: Dr Ken Monaghan.

Animal to human disease: a public health safety issue, an investigation into the zoonotic trasmission of infectious pathogenic microbial spores.
Supervisor: Dr Mary Garvey

Biorefining of lipids from microalgae as high-value oiles and bioenergy commodities.
Supervisor: Dr Nicolas Touzet

Identification and quantification of unregulated masked mycotoxins in grains.
Supervisor: Dr Thomas Smyth.

Towards diagnostic and theranostic glycosylation biomarkers in Alzheimer’s disease.
Superviors: Dr Margaret Doherty & Dr Thomas Smyth.
