SÓ Sligo at Knocknarea Arena

The inaugural  SÓ Sligo Food and Culture Festival 2010 was held last weekend with a range of events hosted in IT Sligo’s Knocknarea Arena.  A host of culinary and cultural displays all over Sligo attracted thousands of visitors from all parts of Ireland, north and south.
International master chef and TV personality, Neven Maguire and Sligo’s seaweed expert chef Prannie Rhatigan gave unrivalled cooking demonstrations to hundreds of eager spectators in a specially prepared purpose-built kitchen in the impressive  Knocknarea Arena at IT Sligo.

The visitor numbers were a greatly needed boost to Sligo retailers and hospitality sectors with the highest number of hotel and B&B bookings recorded so far this year.

The first ever title for The Irish Stew Champion was won by Joe Clinton from Donegal. The amateur title was won by Janet Devins from Greystones, Co.Wicklow. The Junior Masterchef title went to Michelle Connor from Claregalway in Co Galway.
