The Yeats Academy of Arts, Design and Architecture (YAADA) will launch its annual Creative Showcase on June 2nd, 2022, at ATU Sligo. This is the first Showcase since ATU Sligo (formerly IT Sligo) became Atlantic Technological University and the first in-person Showcase since the pandemic.

This year’s Creative Showcase celebrates students’ creativity, hard work, and innovation, with over 200 students’ work on display. The work demonstrates the culture of learning, research, and creativity and the Yeats Academy’s role in being a positive central presence at the heart of the new university and the region.

Hayley Speight Madden won the Abbey Design Bursary Award 2022, enabling her to do a six-month residency at the Abbey.

Dr Orla Flynn, ATU President, welcomes the event back on campus, as this means; “that students, staff and visitors can walk the corridors of the ATU and experience first-hand the amazing creative output from our students”.

Emmet O’Doherty, Head of the Yeats Academy of Arts, Design and Architecture, encourages all visitors to try to get around all three of the locations. He said:

“This year, we will be hosting our Creative Showcase across three buildings. Fine Art and Creative Design will be on show in our new Art & Design Building, a building originally designed by the renowned Irish Modernist architect Joseph Downes. Our student’s work will be on display for the first time in our purpose-made studios on the New North Campus Creative Hub. The Bachelor of Architecture and the BA in Interior Architecture & Design programmes will present their work in the new Architecture Building. Student work from our Performing Arts and Writing & Literature programmes will be on display on the Main Campus”.

The event is free and open to the public, taking place across three buildings.

  • Performing Arts, Writing and Literature and the Masters in Creative practice work will be displayed in Block D (Black Box, C1005)
  • Fine Art and Creative Design in Block K
  • Architecture and Interior Architecture in The Architecture Building (a minibus will be available to shuttle people)
