The Knocknarea Arena at IT Sligo hosted one of the flagship events for the Yeats 2015 celebrations – The Poet Laureate and National Poets Event.
President Michael D. Higgins was the guest of honour for this special, one-off occasion, as the laureates gathered to pay tribute to WB Yeats on his birthday in his spiritual home.
The laureates/national poets had never performed together in Ireland.
The evening also featured several young musicians and poets and a special guest appearance by Mary MacPartlan, award winning Sligo poet Paul McMahon and celebrated harpist Seana Davey and Aidan Brennan.
