IT Sligo’s senior gaelic footballers completed their Connacht FBD League campaign on Sunday with a draw against NUIG in Ballyhaunis. The sides finished level at 0-8 each.

There was little between the teams over the hour of football. They were level at half-time and level at the finish. Cian Clinton was the Institute’s top scorer with 0-4.

IT Sligo had already missed out on the knockout stages of the competition, having lost their opening two group games to Roscommon and Mayo respectively.

The league provided a useful warm-up for the opening round of the Higher Education Sigerson Cup later this month. Martin McHugh’s team face a difficult assignment away to Queen’s at the Dub Playing Fields in Belfast. The match will be played under lights on Wednesday, January 28th, with a 7pm throw-in.

Whoever wins that game will face the winners of University College Cork v Cork IT in round two.

UCC will host the 2015 Sigerson Cup finals weekend on Feb 20th & 21st.
